Bread Upma by Adyasha Padhi

Preparation Time:

  • Time: 10 mins
  • Makes 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 10 bread slices
  • 2 finely chopped onions 1 finely chopped tomato
  • 2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson) 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 3 to 4 finely chopped green chillies 1 tsp turmeric powder (haldi) few curry leaves (kadi patta)
  • 2 tsp chopped garlic (lehsun)
  • 2 tbsp peanuts
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 4 tsp oil salt to taste

For Granish

  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
  • 2 tsp Lemon juice

Method

  • Remove the sides of the bread slices and cut them into small pieces and keep aside.
  • Heat the oil in a kadhai, add the curry leaves, mustard seeds, green chillies and garlic and saute till the seeds crackle.
  • Add the onions and saute till they turn translucent.
  • Add the turmeric powder and saute for 30 seconds.
  • Add the tomatoes, mix well and cook till the tomatoes turn soft. Add the garam masala and cook for 2 mins.
  • Add the bread cubes, mix well and cook taking care the bread pieces does not breaks.
  • Cover and cook for 2 minutes. Serve hot garnished it with coriander and lemon juice.
