MALFUNCTION IN OPGC-UNIT-2 MAY TRIGGER ELECTRICITY CRISIS IN THE STATE Odisha

Reported by Abhijeet Acharya :- The unit-2 of the IB Thermal power plant of the OPGC (Odisha Power Generation Corporation) which is located in the Banaharpalli of Jharshuguda district has been, pro tempore, closed owing to snag(glitch) in one of its two coal mills. OPGC has two power generation units in the state with 210 Mega Watt capacity each and the power generated by OPGC is sent to the GRIDCO. The electricity demand in the state happens to be 3,200 Mega Watt and the power generated by the state is approximately the same. Henceforth, owing to a malfunction in the unit-2 of the OPGC , an impending power crisis may be triggered.
