Bakula / Baula (ବକୁଳ /ବଊଳ ) Amabasya - one Typical odia festival.

baula amba fula ‘Bakula Amavasya’ is popularly known as ‘Bakula Amavasi’. It is observed during the month of December and January in Odisha & observed during the Posh Amavasi (Pusa Amabasya) . The festival is primarily dedicated to the Mango trees. During this period the mango tree blooms with the new seeds (in Odia it is known as Baula). Special food is prepared on the day and is being offered in temples. The food is also offered to Mango trees. The ritual is performed to get more mangoes during the season . Puja perform near Amba ( Mango) Tree with Baula (Mango flowers) on this day .It’s dedicated to the Mango trees. Bakula Amavasya 2013 date is January 11. Dhanu Sankranti is also observed on the day.

In the occasion of Baula amabasya, the odias prepare Khira Gaintha recipe in their house. which is an typical odia food .Special food is prepared on the day and is offered in temples. The food is also offered to Mango trees. The ritual is performed to get more mangos during the ensuing mango season.
