Train accident near Kathajodi railway station #Odisha #News
Several passengers were injured after a passenger train rammed into a stationary goods train near Odisha’s Cuttack railway station this evening.
According to reports, the Bhubaneswar-Bhadrak DMU train hit a stationary goods train near Kathajodi railway station this evening at around 6.30 pm resulting in derailment of several bogies.
While several passengers have sustained injuries in the incident, one person is feared dead. Seventeen critically injured passengers have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, trains along the route were halted at various places.
Meanwhile, accident relief and medical vans have been rushed to the spot for rescue operations.
Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora, Sub Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra and DRM (Khurda) and Railway Chief Safety Officer (ECoR) have also rushed to the accident site.
“Several persons have been trapped in the train. We are trying to rescue them,” Sub Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra said.
