Bhubaneswar: Odisha government confirmed two sunstroke deaths today as the entire state experienced intense heat with temperatures hovering above 40 degree Celsius in at least 13 places and Talcher recording the highest at 43.8 degree.
The two casualties were a man in Cuttack district and a woman in Mayurbhanj district.
The death of the remaining four persons were because of ‘other causes’, Mohapatra said.
While Talcher recorded 43.8 degree C, nearby Angul town 42.3 degree C, Bhawanipatna 42.7 degree C, Titlagarh 42.5 degree C and Bolangir 42 degree C.
The state capital of Bhubaneswar recorded 41.6 degree C.
“The heat-wave condition is likely to continue for the next 48 hours,” a warning issued by the local met office said.PTI
