Odisha News – Odisha govt raises MGNREGS workdays to 150 days in two districts #News
Bhubaneswar: In a bid to reduce the number of people migrating to other places in search of work, Odisha government today decided to increase workdays offered to labourers in the districts of Balangir and Nuapada from 100 days to 150 days under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
As intensity of migration was more in the two districts of Balangir and Nuapada, the state government took a decision to provide the needy with more workdays under MGNREGS, said Labour and Employment minister Prafulla Mallick.
In another step to help the migrant labourers facing exploitation, torture and fraud, Mallick said the state government has set up a toll-free number to register complaints and grievances.
“The toll-free helpline number is 155368,” the minister said.
“With this number, the migrant labourers can apprise the state government of their problems at their workplaces. If any complaint is received from any migrant labourer, the state government will provide immediate assistance to them,” he added.PTI
