Bhubaneswar, Aug (PTI) Odisha government today launched an open air light and sound show at Dhauli, the peace pagoda, located on the outskirts of the state capital here.

The entry fee is fixed at Rs 25 per person and Rs 10 for students. The show will take place from 7 P.M.-7.35 P.M. and 7.45P.M to 8.20 P.M. in Odiya, Hindi and English.

The show, inagurated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, speaks of the glory of Kalinga empire, the Kalinga war andtransformation of King Ashoka from ‘Chandasoka’ to ‘Dharmasoka’.

Designed with the latest 3D projection mapping technology with the?involvement?of internationally acclaimed professionals like Himanshu Singh Sabharwal and Ross Aston, the show redefines story-telling by using lights and an audio system?on a par with international light and sound shows, said Odisha culture minister Ashok Chandra Panda.

There are narrations painted by the famous artist Maria Rud adding to the creative excellence, the minister said.

The voiceover for the show has been done?by none other than Kabir Bedi in?English, Om Puri in Hindi and Bijay Kumar Mohanty in Odiya.

The cost of the light and sound show project was Rs 606 lakh of which Rs 500 lakh was sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourism towards the central share and remaining Rs 106 lakh by the state government, the minister said, adding that India Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (ITDC) is the Executing Agency for the project.

An agreement was executed between ITDC Ltd and state tourism department for the purpose with ITDC to maintain the hardware items for one year. ?

The show will take place on all days except Mondays and bad weather days.


It will be the first of its kind show in the state and should attract more tourists to the Buddhist heritage site, the minister hoped. src PTI
