Odisha government decides to open career cells for students in universities and colleges #Odisha #CareerCell #Student
In a bid to enhance the students’ reach for opportunities and prepare them for future challenges, the State Government has decided to open career counselling cells in universities and colleges.
On a pilot basis, these cells would be opened first in Utkal, Berhampur, Sambalpur universities and Rama Devi Women’s University from this academic session for which initially `50 lakh will be spent. For subsequent years, the budget has been fixed at `18 lakh.
In the universities, curricular inputs are relevant for students. Though information on courses is available on brochures, counselling is not properly given to students.
Now-a-days, with vocational guidance and campus-based interviews becoming a common practice, educational officials expect that these aspects could be taken care of through active liaison of the career and counselling cells involving the recruitment agencies and HR personnel of reputed firms.
“Once opened, the cells would give ample opportunities for aspiring students to explore job prospects. The active participation of institutional experts from the agencies and HR firms could give greater on-site experience,” said an Education Department official.
“The cells along with the equal opportunity centres of the universities will organise classes on setting goals for life and motivation. The Centres will also arrange programmes to avoid stress among students when they appear for interviews and examinations,” the official added.
