Bhubaneswar, Sep 19 (PTI) The Odisha government on Saturday announced an award in the memory of noted filmmaker Sarada Prasanna Nayak.
On the “ekadashaha” of Late Sarada Prasanna Nayak, the legendary film personality of Odisha, a special tribute is being offered by the Department of Odia Language, Literature & Culture of Government of Odisha in association with Guru Kelu Charan Mohapatra Odissi Research Center and Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy
Odisha Government has announced an award in his name “Sarada Prasanna Gitikabita Sammana” to be conferred by Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy every year with an amount of 2.5 lacs in recognition of Sri Nayak’s contribution to Odia movie world.
The award was announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The award was announced in recognition of Nayak’s contribution to Odia cinema, an official statement said.
Prasanna, also an acclaimed music director and lyricist, died on September 9 at the age of 94.
A memorial meeting was also organised by the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department during the day.
Several senior officials were present at the meeting. PTI
