Dr Sanjeeb K. Sahoo, a researcher in Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar, has been placed in the world’s ‘highly-cited’ researchers list released by the firm Clarivate Analytics for the year 2018
for the category “Pharmacology & Toxicology”.
He is the only Odia among 10 Indians figured in the globe’s highly-cited researchers list that comprises over 4000 scientists.
Sanjeeb Sahoo, a researcher in Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar, is known for the specialization for use of nanotechnology in cancer drug delivery, especially in cancer cure. The country may boast of the scientists from the institutions like IISc, the IITs, TIFR, JNU, and Tiss. However, only 10 Indians found a place in the world’s 4,000 top scientists list. Interestingly, most of the science experts listed from India do not come from highly ranked institutes in India that are always creating buzz for their scientific innovation. However, a professor from each IIT-Kanpur, IIT Madras, JNU, and NIT-Bhopal are on the global list.
The United States is the top ranking country with the highest number of 2,639 Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) followed by the United Kingdom that boasts of 546 scientists and China (mainland) with 482.
