Cuttack: Noted social activist and tea seller Padma Shri D Prakash Rao passed away while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here today. He was admitted to SCB after being infected with Coronavirus 20 days ago.

Cuttack: Noted social activist and tea seller Padma Shri D Prakash Rao passed away while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here today. He was admitted to SCB after being infected with Coronavirus 20 days ago.

He was not a man but like a GOD for many slum kids who educate them and saved many lives by his services donating blood more than 200 times and giving seva to needy peoples . The social worker was conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2019 for providing education to children free of cost. He ran a school named Asha O Ashwasana in Buxi Bazaar area here to provide free education to slums kids from Class I to V.

He breathed his last at 4:15 PM today while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

A team of doctors comprising Dr Jayant Panda (Medicine), Dr Jyoti Patnaik (Pulmonary), Dr Bidyut Das (HoD, Rheumatology), Dr Umesh Patra (HoD, Hepatology), Dr RK Jena (HoD, Hematology) and Dr Satyanarayan Routray (HoD, Cardiology) were engaged for treatment of the eminent personality  at the hospital.

Both Odisha CM Naveen Pattnaik and PM Narendra Modi said in twitee,

As per modi ji , “Saddened by the demise of Shri D Prakash Rao. The outstanding work that has done will continue motivating people. He rightly saw education as a vital means to empowerment. I recall my meeting with him in Cuttack a few years ago. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
