Bhubaneswar: The commuters travelling in Mumbai new metro from Ghatkopar to Versova will get to know about the popular tourist destination of Orissa. The metro trains travelling in this route are covered with beautiful promotional wraps highlighting some of the major tourist places of the state.
Informing about this, tourism director Nitin Jawale said, “In order to promote tourist destination of the state we are letting no stone unturned. We have approached Mumbai Railway and they have agreed to our proposal to promote Orissa. As of now Mumbai Metro 1 running in line number one from Ghatkopar to Versova have wraps promoting Orissa tourism.”
In two phases, the promotional wraps will be changed. In the first phase the posters promotes places like Koraput, Chilika, Konark, Hirakud Dam, Mangalajodi, Buddhist tourist attraction like Ratnagiri, Lalitgiri, Udaygiri, Dahuli, popular dance forms of Orissa and Rath Jatra.
When asked about how long it will remain, Jawale said, “We have contacted Times Media Limited (TML) who holds exclusive right for Mumbai metro branding, and they have agreed to keep the wraps for six months. After three months the wraps will be changed and some more destinations will be included.”
Around one crore has been invested under this project where outside of the train body is covered with big poster wraps, while interior of metro coaches is also branding with attractive hoardings.
When inquired about whether there are any plans to start the same initiative in other states, he said, “There are some plans but we are yet to finalise it. This apart, we are also planning to include airways.” src – Orissa POst
