From 21st May , visitors to the 13th-century Sun Temple at Konark in Odisha, would get free WiFi service. State run operator BSNL is offering this service and all the required infrastructure are in place, highly placed sources in the company said.
The Sun Temple at Konark is among the eight Archeological Survey of India (ASI) controlled monuments, identified by the Modi government, to get free WiFi service. Konark will be the second heritage site to offer the free internet service. The Ganga ghats of Varanasi were the first to get free wi-fi on the efforts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who represents the this holy city in Lok Sabha.
The Sundial at Konark Sun Temple is a 13- century architectural marvel and is a UNESCO World heritage site. The temple, built in the shape of a gigantic chariot, is built by Narashimha Dev of Ganga Dynasty around 1250 AD. The temple was built to worship the Sun God.
