Sukant Satpathy and Chinmay Parida the two members of Auro-Mira School at Kechla in Koraput block who were abducted by a criminal gang on 24th of January this year were rescued by police on Thursday night from Podapadar under Jeypore PS area , Yaswant Jethwa , IG , SW Range said in a press meet at Korpaut on Friday . According to Mr.Jethwa , a gang of nine including four women had abducted the two persons from the school in Kechla demanding Rs.50 Lakh from its director Pranjal Johar .
On the fateful night they had forced Sukant and Chinmay to board the boat and carried them to Peta ghat in Lamtaput block crossing the waters of Kolab reservoir before making them walk in the forest changing places for days together . However at last they had settled down in Podapadar , a small village in the remote corner of Kolab reservoir area . Making space in one of the houses , the gang had locked the two abducted persons for the last three days and had mostly denied access to any kind of food , he added.
However basing on the telephonic conversation between the abductors and Mr.Pranjal , police had zeroed down on the spot and was able to free the two and catch Bhagaban Khilo of Jerti , Madan Khemundu of Beluguda and Jagarao Khemundu of Nandapur along with a minor boy who were the members of the criminal gang while Arjun , the self made leader of the gang escaping the clutches of police , Awinash Kumar , SP of Koraput said .
Police also recovered two country made rifles from the spot .
