The Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to announce the schedule of the Lok Sabha elections in the first/second week of March will Odisha pursue for the foundation stone ceremony of the commence the work on proposed medical college& hospital of Employees’ state Insurance Corporation of India (ESIC) under the Union Ministry of Labour & Employment ???
[sam id=”1″ name=”Article Place Ads” codes=”true”]The bid process for the construction work of ESIC, Medical College Hospital and applied services at Bhubaneswar with an estimated cost of Rs. 650 crore was held vide Bid notice no: CE/PS/2013/ Med.Coll/ Bhubaneswar/ CA Bid dated 3rd January 2014. Four construction agencies M/S Engineering Project ltd, New Delhi, M/s Hindustan Steel Works Construction, Delhi, M/s Hindustan lifecare ltd, Thiruvantapuram, Kerala, and M/s Utter Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam ltd, Lucknow UP, participated in the pre- bid conference of ESIC headquarters building Panchdeep Bhawan, CIC Marg, Newdelhi, which was held on 10th January 2014 the selection for construction works of medical college in in final stage, and waiting for foundation stone.
Though the medical college was announced in 2009, there was delay in executing the project on account of delay in land acquisition. Initially, there was confusion over selection of site in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. Finally 25 acres land allotted at Jagannathprasad on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. The ESIC has constructed boundary wall and the other preliminary works by spending Rs. 4.6 crore als obtained environment clearance. About Rs 800 crore will be spent in the medical college project which will have a 500 beded super speciality hospital.
It may be noted that during the visit of Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment K Suresh, on 20th November 2013 while addressing a press conference announced that the foundation stone of the proposed medical college will be laid here in January 2014 & target is to start the college in 2017 academic year… In the meanwhile the bid for the construction work is already over and waiting the ceremony of foundation stone???
Mr. Suresh, also announced renovation and upgradation of the 50-bed hospital at Rourkela into 100-bed hospital. The hospital will have modern facilities would cater to western region of the State. ESIC will spend Rs. 100 crore for the purpose. The Union Ministry of Labour has also decided to extend ESIC coverage to Joda in Keonjhar district, Khuntuni in Cuttack and Lanjigarh in Kalahandi district.
