After Wuhan it is Bhubaneswar setting a global benchmark for establishing two large hospitals for Covid 19 in a record 14 days with a combined capacity of 1,000 beds. The two hospitals KIMS & SUM would be made functional in just a fortnight . One operational, these would be the largest facilities in the country dedicated for the treatment of Covid-19 cases. . But Odisha’s success stories are much beyond fighting the deadly pandemic. From sports to education and tourism to industries Odisha is emerging as the new think-tank in Indian Subcontinent. It was the same Odisha until recently people identified with poverty and starvation deaths.
With this move, Odisha will become the first state in the country to set up such large-scale hospitals exclusively to treat coronavirus patients.
To set up the hospitals, the Odisha government has set up a tripartite agreement with corporates and medical colleges.
“Following Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s direction to provide state-of-the-art facility to COVID-19 patients, Odisha has planned the biggest COVID-19 hospitals in the country,” said a statement from the CMO.
“Accordingly, Odisha government signed two tripartite agreements with SUM and KIMS Medical Colleges today at Lok Seva Bhawan to set up 1,000 bedded state level hospitals in Bhubaneswar for the treatment of COVID-19 patients,” the statement added.
CM Patnaik, meanwhile, also issued an appeal to other chief ministers in the country to help the people of Odisha, who are stuck in their respective states, by providing them with basic facilities and security.
