It was a Sunday Morning on 21st of April 2013, when three senior fitness-enthusiast officers thought of cycling in a group in order to maintain fitness and start a cross training activity as a group. This was the very ride, where an idea germinated to start a formal recreational fitness group which would undertake cycling, running and other adventure activities. The ride started from the present VIR-11, Unit-6 with not-so-advanced bicycles and they have covered a distance of 16KM one-way till Kanjia Lake on the periphery of Nandankanan. The idea to bind together cycling enthusiasts of Bhubaneswar finally take the shape of ๐๐๐๐ (๐๐ต๐๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐๐๐ฐ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐น๐๐ฏ) ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ญ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฐ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐น๐๐ฏ and still continuing as the only registered cycling Club of Bhubaneswar with an official stature.
From that very first ride of 16KMs till the present day, where the BCAC has many achievements as the first in Odisha, this Club is growing not only in size, but also in its objective. The Club takes pride in producing more than 35 Super Randonneurs over the last couple of years.
To remember the visions of the founders, who thought of creating such an adventure club of this repute, every year ๐๐๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐น๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ญ๐๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ถ๐น. To commemorate this day, a Bicycle Ride is conducted on the same route to the same place (Nandankanan), every year.
This year also we celebrated our Clubโs Foundation Day with pride on the same route. A total of more than a half-century of riders joined on this Foundation Day Ride from our Club House (VIR-11, Unit-VI) to Nandankanan. Under the leadership of our founders Sanjeeb Panda, and Subrat Panda, the peloton whirled their pedals as planned. The common dress code of neon-green T-shirts of 50+ riders offered an illusion of a green wave amidst the normal city crowd. At Nandankanan, we took a small break and greeted each-other for carrying out the saga of BCAC so far and further.
Our ๐๐น๐๐ฏ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐, ๐ฆ๐ท ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ป๐ท๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฏ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฆ๐ท ๐ฆ๐๐ฏ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ addressed the gathering sharing their thoughts and ideas about formation of this club and its subsequent achievements. The event was organized by Club Secretary, Sj. Ajay Nanda. Namrata, the first lady EC Member of BCAC along with V. Lakshmi, Santoshi, Anshu, and Rimple joined as the Women Power of the Group. Dr. Ranjan Pattnaik from Murshidabad (WB), Dhirendra Kar from Raleigh, South Carolina, and Sangram Sarangi from Dhenkanal joined virtually on this foundation day. Gyana Mallick ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐น๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ for a needy person at KIMS on the BCAC Foundation Day.
On this Foundation Day Ride, eye-stealing was one ๐๐ผ๐๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ-๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐๐ฐ๐น๐ฒ, developed indigenously by Manoj Ku Sundarray. Our riders tried the Double-Decker and enjoyed riding it.
BCAC, committed to support cycling and cyclists, has identified one budding rider โ Sahil Roul, who has excelled his performance in the recent competitive events conducted by BCAC. ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ต๐ถ๐น ๐ฅ๐ผ๐๐น ๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ป ๐ด๐ถ๐ณ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฎ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐ธ๐ฒ for pursuing his ambitions in competitive cycling. BCAC women riders made their special appearance on their bikes with full vibe.
The Foundation Day Ride was a huge success. With this ride BCAC has officially started its Summer Adventures. The idea of a fitness-crazy Bhubaneswar has taken shape of a voyage inspiring thousands in Bhubaneswar and the journey continues.
