International Yoga Day is celebrated annually on June 21 and was declared to be internationally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on December 11, 2014. Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice or discipline that originated in India. “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. This tradition is 5000 years old. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being. For this purpose the reputed international sand artist Mr. Manas Kumar Sahoo has created a beautiful sand sculpture on the eve of “International Yoga Day” in the golden sea beach, near light house of Puri at the distance of 65 K.M from capital of Odisha, Bhubaneswar.
In this sculpture Mr. Sahoo shows in the practice of yoga our life style is so simple. Good health keeps us always happy and gives us feeling of complete physical, mental, social and intellectual well-being. A good health keeps us away from the diseases and health disorders. The sand sculpture is of 7 feet height made with 10 tons of sand, with a hard labor of nearly 7 hours and with a message “yoga the ultimate uplifter”.
