Rudra or ‘Sibu’ as he is affectionately known among-st his family, friends & well-wishers, has spent most of his childhood in Bhubaneswar. An alumni of St. Joseph’s High School, he completed his +2 from BJB College & went on to pursue his Mechanical Engineering at NIT, Nagpur where he was also actively involved in the student welfare initiatives. This was possibly the first instance where he realized that he was a natural leader who was looked up to by his batch-mates whenever there was an issue that concerned everyone. ‘Nagpur was a different world altogether and Odia students over there faced a lot of difficulties so I along with some of my batch mates took up many social initiatives so that confidence amongst our Odia students improved and the general image about Odia’s in the college also changed for the better.’ Says Rudra.

Subsequently, he completed his MBA from IIT Delhi, even as he knew he had an established business base back home. While he always longed to be back in Odisha, this was the point when he decided to return to his hometown to make a difference to the lives of people beyond his immediate family. His late father’s advice regarding the importance of creating jobs and better opportunities for his fellow men, reverberated in his mind.

In line with his calling, he started a unique initiative in 2012, with a few like-minded friends. ‘ Jai Odisha’ (Victory for Odisha against all odds), is a voluntary youth organisation which strives for the benefit of society at large. Rudra along with his young team of volunteers through Jai Odisha have initiated various on-going campaigns like ‘Parikrama’(free cycle share programme, which is also one of the flagship events of Bhubaneswar Patha Utsav), ‘Vastra’ (over 10,000 pieces of clothing were distributed to the underprivileged under this programme), ‘Jeevandhaara’ (clean drinking water was provided to the citizens and animals during the heat wave) & and a future programme which is about to start called ‘Suraksha’ (a campaign aimed at the security and safety needs of senior citizens of Bhubaneswar). Recently Rudra along with volunteers of Jai Odisha also participated in the nationwide campaign “Rally for Rivers” campaign also known as “Nadi Abhijan” to spread awareness amongst the people about the depleting water resources of our state and our country. Apart from these flagship campaigns Jai Odisha has also been conducting health check-ups and various other programmes as part of Rudra’s dream for a healthier, happier and prosperous Odisha.

In addition to being an educated businessman with a philanthropic and progressive vision, Rudra is also the Founder & Editor of Coffee Bytes, a widely circulated Bhubaneswar based English tabloid, which focuses on showcasing the positivity, glory and history of our beloved homeland Odisha and people from our state who have made a difference. ’The narrative about Odisha needs to change. We are a vibrant state with a rich mosaic of culture and history. The new generation has also brought in accolades for the state. Through Coffee Bytes we wish to promote these things and bring them to the forefront.’ Says Rudra

Rudra is also the co-founder of and a mentor to the ‘Maharishi Daredevils’, a group of young and disciplined volunteers primarily assisting the Transport Department of the state and the Traffic Police of the city. They strive to spread the awareness about traffic rules, road safety and they also make the city proud with their breath taking formations on motorcycles, which is one of the high points of the Republic Day and Independence Day parades in Bhubaneswar.

A successful businessman, Rudra is also an active member of YI(Young Indians), which is an integral part of CII(Confederation Indian Industries). Having headed the ‘Swacch Bharat’ wing of YI earlier, currently he heads the ‘Horn Not Ok Please’(HNOP) wing of YI. Through these forums, he has taken up many issues plaguing the city and state and has been instrumental in creating awareness amongst the people. Rudra is also associated with various cultural and socio-religious forums of the city like the, Chief Advisor of ‘Gajalaxmi Sanskruta Sangha’(Unit-3), Advisor of ‘Winner Association (Saheed Nagar) and an active member of ‘Saheed Nagar Durga Puja Committee’ etc.

Young, energetic, organized and compassionate; He is moved by the feeling to take Odisha forward into the next era of a better tomorrow. ‘Let us usher in a positive change!’ he says with a smile.
