Reported by Basant Rath: Preparations are in full swing for the Mondei mega cultural festival,
which is going to take place on December 4th. Despite proposals to cancel the Mondei Cultural programmes from sections of people the district administration going to hold the Annual Cultural Festival Mondei- 2013 as per the scheduled.

It was unanimously decided by the district council of culture committee to go ahead and responses of all the committees are always encouraging said Collector & Chairperson District Council of Culture,Ms. Yamini Sarangi, while holding meetings with committees.

Ms.Sarangi further exhorted to organize Mondei symbolic of self-esteem, cultural heritage and emotional impulses of the district. Keeping in view the rich tradition of “Mondei” & the scope it provides to hundreds of artists, traders & other people, we have decided to organize the festival more attractive than previous one.

The block-level tribal cultural festivals Mondei-2013 will begin at Raja Chauria Temple under Kosagumuda block from 4th December & continue up to 9th December. The three-day main festival will begin from 11th December the Revenue Minister Surya Narayan Patro, chief guest who would be inaugurating the three day cultural festival and Palishree Mela. On 12th Additional IG, Nageswar Rao, and on 13th SC & ST development minister Lal Bihari Himirika, are the chief guests while Sports minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi, Nabarangpur MP, Pradeep Majhi, Dabugam MLA, Bhujabala Majhi, Nabarangpur MLA, Manohar Randhari, Umerkote MLA, Subush Gond, Zilla Parisad President, Motiram Nayak, Nabarangpur Municipality Chairperson Basanti Soura, Umerkote NAC Chairperson, Pinki Agrawal, would be the guests of honour for the
three day long festival. Also preparations had been made to invite Mass Education Rabi Narayan Nanda, to the function Ms. Sarangi added.

Major attractions of the festival will be the five days long Palishree Mela (crafts fair) artisans from many districts self-help groups (SHGs) and artists will take part in the fair to showcase their products. various Competitions like Drawing,Creative writing, Antakhari song, Git Kudia, Poem recital, Healthy Baby, Open quiz competition’s Drama festival and much more this year said District Culture officer and DIPRO Bhujang Bhusan Rao. Among others ADM,
Bhimman Seth, DIPRO and DCO Bhujang Bhusan Rao, CSO Dubaraj Majhi, BDO Anil Kumar Sethi, Deputy Collector Indira Sahu, present at the Meetings.
