With one person better in strategy, one in operations and one in marketing with good experience in e-commerce, hence it had directed us to think for something different from the rat race in e-commerce. This start-up has been triggered by a combination of team’s interest towards art, a growing entrepreneurial spirit, rising social inequality for under-privilege artists and market potential for different art forms. We knew that the Original art form is getting obsolete, need to restore the balance. Artists’ numbers not proportional to platforms they get. Handicraft and Handlooms being upcoming trend. We as a team were in no hurry to earn money and also intended for something than being conventional. This is how the project kicked off and we have taken help from one of our friend, Debashis Nayak, who has helped us in developing the website initially.

“IndiaCraftNation (www.IndiaCraftNation.com) deals only with Handicraft and Handlooms with an aim to promote the art that is getting obsolete, needs to be preserved and marketed. With this, we are also promoting the artists (the unsung heroes) and their varieties of art forms. We only deal with authentic products. To start with, we have tied with Odisha Government for sourcing of their products and also with many local artists. We are also in talk and terms with Andhra, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, UP, Kashmir, Jharkhand and few other states for promoting their art. Our vision is to have the authentic arts from each and every state of India. Having said this, we are also making an attempt to promote creativity through online events.

We had launched “Don’t waste your selfie” where in a common person can share his/her creativity through waste management. Apart from the reward, we are also giving an opportunity to many of them to sell their creative output through our website. This is one of the better ways to be responsible and help the environment and oneself. Now that our online sale has been streamlined a bit, we now aim to expand. We are planning to set up offline stores at metros and other key cities through franchisee model. The next step would be to explore the employability quotient by imparting necessary skill training to under-privilege and potential artists. “Says Adarsh Rath, Co-Founder and MD, IndiaCraftNation .
