Highlights of Odisha budget 2019-2020

Finance minister of Odisha Shashi Bhusan Behera presents the state budget for the financial year 2019-20. Here are the highlights:

Allocations for various schemes (Rs in crore)

*KALIA, Flagship cash transfer scheme for farmers: 4461

*Interest subvention to farmers (towards subsidy in interest of farm loans): 800

*PEETHA (sub-scheme of Ama Gaon, Ama Bikash): 400

*Basudha (rural water supply): 2935

*Madhubabu Pension Yojana: 2120

*Mission Shakti: 301

*Mamata (cash for pregnant women): 305

*Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana: 864

*Gopabandhu Grameen Yojana: 500

*Parvati Giri Mega Lift Irrigation: 1777

*Water Sector Infrastructure Development Programme: 1465

*Re 1 kg rice scheme: 1028

*As the state government has launched the State Food Security Scheme, to cover the left out beneficiaries under National Food Security Act, it has made a provision of Rs 1028 crore for supply of rice at Rs 1 per kg

*Congress members also staged a walkout protesting budget

*A sports complex, with integrated facilities, is planned in every district. World-class satellite stadium will be constructed in major cities like Cuttack, Rourkela, Berhampur, Sambalpur and Jeypore: FM Behera

*Budget estimate for 2019-20 fiscal estimated at Rs 1.32 lakh crore (the vote-on-account) is over 40% of total estimates

*Madhu Babu Pension Yojana, state’s old age pension scheme covering 48 lakh elderly, widows, destitutes gets an allocation of Rs 2,120 crore

*Odisha’s economy is expected to grow at the rate of 8.35% in 2018-19 surpassing all India growth rate of 7.2%

*Going by the trends in the external and domestic economic environment, the state economy can be expected to grow in the range of 8 to 8.5% during 2019-20: FM Behera
